Tucan Studio - a native IDE for AmigaOS
=======================================

Tucan Studio is an integrated development environment for AmigaOS, written
in AmLang. It runs on an RTG screen and gives you a file tree, a tabbed
syntax-highlighted text editor, a menu strip and an extensible tool
sidebar - all native, with no shelling out to other programs.

Online tools (the ChatGPT assistant, the Aminet browser and the git
sidebar) talk to servers directly over the network and need AmiSSL 5.27
installed (amissl.library).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. REQUIREMENTS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tucan Studio is built to make the most of MODERN Amiga hardware -
accelerators, FPGA and emulation - not to squeeze onto original specs.
It is a full IDE (RTG rendering, a scripting engine, live online tools),
so it wants real CPU and RAM to feel responsive.

  - AmigaOS 3.x on m68k (68020+).
  - An RTG screen driven by CyberGraphX or Picasso96
(cybergraphics.library v40). Tucan Studio opens its own RTG screen; it
does not run on plain AGA/ECS.
  - AmiSSL 5.27 (amissl.library) for the online tools (ChatGPT, Aminet,
    git over https://).

  Minimum: 64 MB RAM, 68060 @ 100 MHz
  Recommended: 256 MB RAM, PiStorm / Emu68

2. INSTALLING
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unpack the archive and double-click the "Install" icon in the tucanstudio
drawer. The Installer (standard Commodore Installer) asks where to put
Tucan Studio and which program-icon style suits your Workbench (8-colour,
256-colour GlowIcon, NewIcons or true-colour PNG), then copies everything
into a new drawer and gives it a matching Workbench icon.

Keep the installed files together - the binary loads its images, syntax
files and settings relative to its own directory. Launch it by double-
clicking its Workbench icon, or from the CLI:

  cd <where-you-installed>/TucanStudio
  TucanStudio

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. ONLINE TOOLS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ChatGPT assistant needs an OpenAI API key. Set it in the environment
before launching:

  setenv TUCAN_OPENAI_API_KEY "sk-..."

`setenv` stores the variable in ENV: until reboot; copy it to ENVARC: to
make it permanent.

4. EXTENSIONS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tucan Studio can load extensions from its catalog (installed via the
extensions manager in the sidebar) and run per-click scripts. See
extension-templates/ in the archive for a starting point.
