Aminet
Tools -> Aminet opens a browser for aminet.net in the right sidebar: search the archive, read a package's README, and download it without leaving the studio.
Searching
Type in the search field and press Enter. Results are listed as rows with the file name and its short description; Next > at the bottom fetches the following page of results.
With an empty search the panel shows the recent uploads feed, which is the usual way to see what has just landed.
Package details
Clicking a result's description opens the detail view: the package's metadata -- size, date, downloads, category -- and its README, which is usually the only documentation there is. The search field stays visible, so you can start a new search without going back first.
Downloading
Clicking a result's file name, or Download <name> in the
detail view, fetches the archive into the folder set in
Settings -> Downloads. That defaults to $HOME/Downloads on
desktop systems and RAM: on AmigaOS and MorphOS. The status line
under the search field names the file it wrote.
The studio does not unpack the download -- an Aminet archive is
usually .lha, and what to do with it is yours to decide.
From the AI agent
The agent has the same access through its own tools, so you can ask for a package in the chat instead of driving the panel: searching, the recent feed, and downloading a specific file all work from there, and a download it makes lands in the same folder.
A note on responsiveness
Network calls in this panel are synchronous: while a search or a download is in flight the studio's event loop is blocked, so the window will not redraw until it finishes. Slow connections make this obvious. It is a known limitation of the panel rather than a fault in the connection.
