Welcome to Tucan Studio

Tucan Studio is an AmigaOS-native IDE built in AmLang. It runs on AmigaOS m68k, MorphOS PPC, AROS, macOS, Linux, and Windows.

The window layout

The main window is split into dockable slots:

  • Left sidebar -- folder tree, Git status, tool panels.
  • Right sidebar -- AI chat, Aminet, Help, and other apps.
  • Top bar -- file tab bar.
  • Bottom bar -- the terminal (CLI) app.
  • Center -- the active editor.

Every app opens into one of these slots. The footer button row at the bottom of the window toggles each open app's visibility without unmounting it.

  • Tucan Studio -- open / create a workspace, Settings, Welcome, Help, Quit.
  • File -- Save, Save As, and the three markdown view modes.
  • Edit -- undo, redo, clipboard, select all, select mode.
  • Workspace -- the commands you define for this project, plus Edit menus... and Apply workspace template...
  • Extensions -- Manage extensions..., Reload extensions, Install current extension, and the entries extensions add.
  • AI Agent -- add and manage AI services, open the chat.
  • Tools -- New CLI and Aminet.

Where to go next

Pick a topic on the left of this panel. Everything the studio does has a topic here: workspaces, the editor, the terminal, Git, Aminet, extensions, the AI agent, workspace commands, keyboard shortcuts, and every setting.
